June 14 Tuesday afternoon. -- This is indeed a summer day; bright, beautiful but very warm. Although the others seem to suffer from the heat I have so far kept pretty comfortable. It was delightfully cool and pleasant in my little room all morning, for the sun does not beat in until afternoon: it is some warmer now, but by keeping the blinds closed, and the window and door open I keep comfortably cool.
