Forts Clark, Duncan, Stockton, Davis, Quitman and Bliss to be supplied as heretofore from San Antonio, but the stores to be sent from St. Louis or Chicago via Austin.
Forts Brown, Ringgold Barracks and probably McIntosh will have to be supplied from New Orleans, as at present. The accompanying sketch will show the different routes. I am General, very respectfully Your obdt servant (Sgd) C. C. Augur
Enclosure Brigadier General 2035 L.R. D. T. '73 Commanding ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 467. "Telegram." MO. MIL. DIV. [left margin] May 26, 1873. Lieut. General Sheridan Chicago, Ills.
Mackenzie's Official report received. It is substantially the same as already sent, Indians threaten retaliation but he is prepared for them. I have assurances from reliable sources that the better class of Mexicans are perfectly satisfied now, when they know the attack was not made upon Mexico but solely upon the Indians. I trust Mackenzie will be sustained by the Government. Indian depredations on that frontier can never be stopped so long as the Indians are permitted to Escape pursuit by crossing into Mexico.
