property. Major Roy has returned to Arbuckle. Dr. Brewer & family passed thro' here a few days since enroute. They stopped here two or three days.

  I got a letter from Armes tonight.  He speaks very uncomplimentary of Kidd.  I fear things have not been working exactly right with the detachment.  The regiment now has 1023 enlisted men, so that we can commence recruiting any time.   A new officer of the 6th. Infantry has reported.  Lieut. Thiebant.  He seems like a very efficient officer.
   All are well here and everything goes smoothly.  A General Court Martial of which I was a member has been grinding for the past week, we finished business today.
   Col. rockwell is pushing the work on the quarters as fast as possible, but it is slow work with the class of mechanics he has.
