Head Quarters Greenville 19th Aug 1795 Sir This will be presented to you by Major Vego, who has been at this place for some time, & now on his way to post Vincennes When I wrote you on the 15th Instant I was still beset, by the Indian Chiefs in favor of a few more favorite traders, alist of whom I have the honor to enclose. Two days since a Cherokee Chief with four young warriors arrived here from the head waters of the Scioto, bearing a talk? from Coona-niskey (alias) Big Spider, in which he solemnly promises to prevent all his people from doing any further injury to the persons or property of any of the Citizens of the United States, & that he will withdraw all the remaining Cherokees from this side of the Ohio, in the course of this fall & return to his own Nation!
