-- As to the rest of it -- my death- defying duel with the universe -- just the business of living which I make so darned bad, but out of which I do believe I have managed to get a good deal - I think it is pretty closely bad? days? with my work - in fact, living at ? are so close together with me that it seems to me they are darned near the same thing : I do carry my work too much with me - when I'm doing it, I take it into bars, restaurants, railroad trains, parties, upon the streets everywhere- I guess ? a row or quarrel or dispute in some joint with a ? fever began somewhere hours or days or weeks before upon a page?
