One of the things that is slowly coming home to me is the appalling selfishness that exists in so many people -- a ruthless selfishness that walks over everything. I never used to believe it -- I am being made to believe it. And it's a little disrupting. I would give a good deal to talk to you about your book. I realize though that you have said there what you have to say & that I'll have to puzzle through to my own solution & my own expression, if I can reach that far. But suppose Aline had really loved her husband & not Bruce at all? Couldn't it all have happened just the same? And then what would they have done? Just how important, after all, are out bodies?
