The book has arrived also. Many thanks! I am greatly enjoying it. I admire the objectivity of the narrative and the economy of many of the descriptions. It certainly strikes me as in the tradition of Defoe, a writer I much respect. It is very kind of you to interest yourself so on behalf of "Fright in the Forest." I offerred [sic] it to innumerable publishers before it was finally accepted: but my later efforts have met with even less success. Several publishers have expressed their appreciation but regretted that probable sales would not justify publication. The most enterprising, John Calder, very nearly accepted one, but finally turned it down after retaining the MS for twelve months. I do hope we can arrange a meeting somewhere, some time, while you are still over on this side.
All best wishes. Benn Sowerby
