Belfast, Aug. 13 (Fri) '65

Dear Jack:
The shoe store at Evergreen Plaza has been asked to have shoes sent downtown. They know me well.
Excuse the presumption re matter of shoes, but Customs can sometimes be slow, though unless one is suspected of bringing in articles

for sale or expensive gifts, there's usually no trouble, and especially if one travels light. don't bother about a shoe box, just in newspaper will do, and consider them as an extra pair of your own, if you "get" me. Hard for me to buy - until I get "connected."

I've said little about the natural advantages of Belfast, which is situated in what is really a valley of the Cregah Hills, or small mountains,

and quite nice vistas here and there, and is our neighborhood. Belfast airport is quite far out, so anyone coming from Dublin would be as well off riding the railway, which by express train is only 2 hrs 10 mins away, with added attraction being the Mountains of Mourne visible for a long stretch. Include us in your itinerary if at all possible, and we'll have accomodation [sic], also you could go to Glasgow from London (either by air or RR), and cross to Belfast by steamer and afterwards to Dublin by train. On our last stay in Dublin we saw the ill-famed Kilmainham Jail; just a short bus ride from College Green. We had previously seen Dublin Castle, which is free and a short walk from College green.
