heart, & your neighbour as yourself_ This duty of love to God & man, is godliness_ but it is that which God requires- or it is the exercise of that benevolence which is like God to fountain of moral excellence & perfection- Further- Godliness extends to all the ways in which love is commanded to be exercised in the law or gospel- Says the same apostle to Timothy "the word of our Lord Jesus Christ, & the doctrine which is according to godliness, are to be preached" and again the truth which is after godliness_ All the words of Christ & all doctrines which are agreeable to his words, and the precepts, & rules of the gospel, which describe man's duty, are according to godliness- or true religion. They all describe the ways in which
