Get good crowds & would like it if it was not for the messing around and if I could do it for nothing. Think about the Holidays I shall stop making a business of it. I was in N.Y. several days and had a fine time. Everyone was glad to see me. Went to dinner &c. more than I ever ate before. Saw Gertrude, Mary Mulholland, Ellis Jones, Lorent Abbott, Allen Baum - and others, we talked a great deal of you. & I read them your Gold fields letter & your & Lems poems over & over again.
