The church and [[unclear]] in Deerfield were [[unclear]]. Employed us he was in a truly laborious, replete with difficulty, and of dread responsibility so far from augmenting his difficulties, his people were emulous to afford him all the solace, and facilities, & countenance, and encouragement in their power. This enabled him to be so entirely devoted to the ministry, as it may be truly said, that very Epistle, and every sermon, and every step in his course, were manifestly directed to one end- the glory of Christ in the salvation of men. He was honoured to be, in this glorious cause, co-worker with God, How brilliant is the example which he has left of diligence & Zeal! it man he was who laboured, nay, who lived, moved & breathed, not for himself, but for the glory of his master, & the salvation of men!
