Your Post Trader, Mr. Townsend, don't pay up worth a cent. You said you would look after him if he didn't, so I inclose a statement of his a/c, and if you will see that a remittance is sent to us pretty soon I shall be greatly obliged to you. You will notice that his bill was contended many months ago. It is time it was paid.

Business is in a dreadful condition. There is absolutely nothing doing, and the prospects ahead are not encouraging to say the least. I have not been so dull in five years as during the past six months.
