Dear brother Isaac Zanesville July 29th Your letter from Locust hill reached me yesterday being sent here from Westfield. I had become so anxious about you as to dream of you as being sick, or in trouble almost every night. knowing the sickliness of that climate, aggravated this season by the inundation of the rivers, leaving stagnant waters. It appears you had not received my last letter, sent four or five weeks ago enclosed with letters from Lucy and your friend Everett: they were directed to Springfield. probably they did not reach that place until you left it, but I fear we shall meet with delays if not loss of letters, as you are not in the direct line of thorough fare ; A young lady went from Westfield to Arkansas, and for the first three months not a letter reached her from her friends though they wrote every week, while hers reached them regularly. I was truly glad to get your letter and feel somewhat relieved about you, but your present situation must be very uncomfortable in many respects, besides the hazard on account of health. I hope you handsome remunerations; Why did you not write to me particulars of your business, prospects, pay, how laborious &c.? all the information you give, is comprised in the short sentence "my business extends fifty miles north of this place'. now there would be much satisfaction to me to know all about it; the boarding place, profile and all curious things.
