Dear Brother. [This?] day is Jan. 29th This day after so long, have I have I received my wages for the months of Nov & Enclosed you will find. Fitchburg Bank XX.  Letter E. [?] E. [Torrey?] [?...]. July [2?] 1845  Mr. Perkins Prest.  Of which $15.00 is you. on Note, and interest probably some.  Then that [Value?] yours which I have.  If ther is "any thing over" the "Six Lectures on the Uses of the Lungs" by Samuel Sheldon. If the book has another title it is 'Causes & Cure of [Consum?].  Remember, I am particular about the book.  It may save [valu?] Probable cost $.50 cent, on thence forward to a dollar.

missed part of the Engineering Corps.  I may congratula myself upon being retained while others longer in servi who might reasonably be supposed better are discharged.  However the las summer is that the prospect is they will be [?] to weather it , will have to stop altogether.  That would course throw Engineer as well as all others out of Employ, and might expect to see me down East before long.  But I guess they will continue somehow to [heep?] along, and [?]
