If so, will you consent to come and live here next summer? Suppose I come East for a week or two early in the Spring, and you come back with me, say early in March at least? I really think we can be very comfortable here. This hilly country at and about Jonesboro is considered the healthiest part of Illinois. It certainly has been the past season, much more so than the north part of the State.

We have a Presbyterian Minister here now. Rev Mr Stewart lately of Greenville Bond bo. He is quite an able man, perhaps I wrote something about him at the I.I. Bible Convention. He is sent here by the Presbytery {New School} as a Missionary, to build up Presbyterianism in this part of the State, and especially in Jonesboro, the most important part.

Rev Mr Stewart lately of Greenville Bond Co. He is quite an able man, perhaps I wrote something about him at the I.I. Bible Convention. He is sent here by the Presbytery {New School} as a Missionary, to build up Presbyterianism in this part of the State, and especially in Jonesboro, the most important part. I like him very well, and I presume he would like much to have me stay here. By the way, he calls this one of the healthiest places in the whole western country, and he ought to know, having always lived in these States, -- is native of Ohio, his wife though is from Massachusetts, Westfield, I believe. Last Sabbath I spent at Mt Hawkins, at Mr Roots place. You enquire if the failure of the $15.000.000 Loan will affect the progress of this Road. The failure will prevent the immediate completion of the Road, but not prevent its progress: And this Southern portion, being the most difficult part, and at the end too, will probably go on about the same any way.
