Dear Mother
We were very glad to find a letter from you awaiting us last evening as we arrived warm & weary at our own home.  I wanted to hear from you very much  feared you would put off writing & that we should not hear for several days.  We do want to hear often dear Lucy must try to keep up good spirits  the doctor still regards her case as on the whole a hopeful one.  he does not think very favorably of taking creosote thinks mustard poultice or innhaling plaster as she can bear it would be good for the pain in her side.
