This day is Sabbath, July 10th, One week from Tuesday, or the 24th I shall get through with Bowdoin College.  If I should go home should probably go in the course of that week, in about one week after this letter will reach you. If I can find any thing to do I shall not go home; if I cannot, perhaps I shall, though if I had a little money I thing I should go to Mass. first.
I have been pulling all the strings I knew how to get hold of, only three or four, to try to get upon a R. Road, immediately.  I had a letter from Uncle Joseph Stevens a short time since I wrote to him about the R.R. business there. He wrote as soon as he got my letter, very kindly, approved my ideas, if he could do any thing for me he would try.  The engineers had left his vicinity, but he was acquainted with some, on other roads &c. He would see some of them &c.
