   Our Legislature has met, and so as we heard of [[unclear]]terference. Gov. Reeder and Col. Lane have been chosen U.S. Senators to represent us [[unclear]] admitted as a state. But I suppose there is no hope of such admission at this session. Banks' election as speaker was very cheering news to the settlers here. I hope it may soon befollowed by Reeder's admission to [[his seat?]] That would do us as much good as the President's calamitous message did (or was calculated to do) harm. The Herald of Freedom of Lawrence says the border papers have less of the blood and murder tone since those documents came out [[than?]]  before. They hope Frank Pierce will do their work of "[[crushing?]] out" freedom for them. Perhaps [[unclear]] can. With Pierce & [[Fillmore?]] for antagonists, it seems as if the Republicans must sweep the Free States. The future of this territory depends entirely upon the free states. Will the feeling for Kansas and freedom continue or will the Free States be diverted by an excitement about such a shadowy chimera as a war with England about Musquito king protectorships, &c., &c.
