ready to plough yet, nor any of his potatos dug, he is going to put those at the head of the intervale into a hole dug for them there; he cuts twice the hay there that he did last year and is going to stack it there. We have had a very pleasant visit from Mr. Hatch, he came up to attend the dedication at Brownville, and has waited for Mr Dow? to return from a journey to Kennebeck, in hopes to get his money they say Mr Dow expected to borrow some there for the town, - but he has not yet returned; and Mr. Hatch things he cannot wait any longer than to day: so probably he will be obliged to go back without it which will be a serious disappointment to him.---------- Now as to my affairs, - I feel very desirous of getting a place there should there be any opportunity and I think it important to use all the exertion and management in our power to obtain it. Mr. Abbot's I believe the secretary of the committee, and if so he is the one to apply to, rather than any other member and I want you should go to him with my card and recommendation, and make a regular application for the situation of assistant in Mr. Turner's high School, should they want one: tell him to inquire of Mr. Pomroy for further information. If he says there will be no vacancy, or gives no encouragement, then inquire particularly about the other public schools, and also what chance for private schools
