It is now about half past four; about the same time that I wrote yesterday. I have been [tacked?] this afternoon, and feel as smart can be after it. I sat up an hour and twenty five minutes this morning; don't you think I am doing well to gain twenty minutes in one day? O, I must tell you what I saw when I was sitting up. But I will tell you what else I saw; I saw four men walking along the plank sidewalk, and two ladies; and then I saw four sleighs and two dogs! They were not all going together though, very likely they knew no more about one another than I did about them, but they all passed when I was sitting up. I suppose you will laugh, and think that I am writing nonsense, but I am not; it is no nonsense to me. I have not seen so much in nearly three years, I believe, as I have today. | ||
