When morning came we found ourselves completely surrounded and so commenced fighting on every side. The rebs first used artillery, opening with two 12 pd brass howitzers on our rear. Our section was ordered out, and got in position under a shower of bullets, and in 3 minutes obliged the rebel pieces to make themselves scarce.
