A human body was found, in the years 1815, in one of the limestone caverns in Kentucky. It is a perfect exsiccation. All the fluids are dried up. The skins, bones, and other firm parts, are in a state of entire preservation. The outer envelope of the body was a deer skin, dressed in the usual way, & perhaps softened, before its application, by rubbing. discovery has been made. On opening an Indian grave on the river, several beads of glass of a similar nature were found, They were accompanied by many bones of the human frame, of a most extraordinary size, and which indicated a stature eight feet in height. This excavation was made near the bank of the river, where the soil is a rich alluvial, and covered by a heavy growth of fruit trees, such as are peculiar to the richest Ohio and Mississippi bottoms. The next covering was a deer skin, whose hair had been cut away by a sharp instrument resembling a hatter's knife. The remnant in the hair, and the gashes in the skin, nearly resemble the sheared felt of beaver. The next wrapping was of cloth made of twine doubled and twisted. But the thread does not appear to have been formed by the wheel, nor the web by the loom; the warp and filling seemed to have been crossed and netted by an operation like that of the fabrics of the northwest
