Thursday Aug 5th 1875
Thursday Aug 5th 1875 Ths sun rose bright this morning -- but very wet under feet, all of us well, we all went to the spring and took [[note left margin: Faulds New York ]] our water, while at breakfast Mr Faulds returned to our Cottage from New York and brought Adele a Parrot Cape  we that is Mr Angell Hunt and myself intend to return to Chicago to night, and leave Ada here with my Sisters.  Dr Thoms came up to say good bye.  in the Afternoon David Mrs Shreve Mr Angell and myself all went to Moons Lake, which is a pretty spot, Frank Leslie has beautiful grounds and beautiful stables and one of the most beautiful gardens, a lovely spot.  we came home at six and met all the gay people driving on the road to Moons Lake.  at nine O. clock an Omnibus called for us, and David James & Mattie Faulds Mattie Belle Tom and Adele all went to the Cars with us,  Mrs Shreve took a severe headache and could not go with us.  we had nice accommodations on the Cars, , all slept well, and this morning at nine we reached Rochester, and had our breakfast at Congress Hall, and then our dinner on the Hotel Car in our drawing room, and also our tea Friday Aug 6. 1875  We rested well last night and to day have been on the Car, taking our meals, it is not very warm  at London we got out and walked on the platform and I had a drawing room, so did Mr Angell have one,  we spent a good night and hope to reach Chicago in the morning, Mr Harvey and George and Rob are at Cape Cod  X  Saturday Aug 7th 1875  I rose early this morning, the sun shone brightly [[note left margin: arrived home Aug 7 ]]  all of us well, at half past eight we reached Chicago and met at the Depot Mr Badger Sheridan & Shreve and Octave, all were glad to see us, we walked up to our house and found a very fine breakfast waiting for us  the babies are much improved and look very pretty, Hunt [[note left margin: whiskers ]] delighted to get home, Mr Badger has shaved off his whiskers and looks like a fright.  I only knew him  X  by his clothes.  it has so changed his looks.
