Monday Aug 2nd 1875
Monday Aug 2nd 1875 It has looked all day like rain, but it has not, all of us well, at eight O. clock we all went to the Spring and drank iron water, Hunt included, then we returned to breakfast.  after breakfast sat at the door, my Sisters families all well,  Mr Angell very blue to day, and is quite unnerved, after dinner the children all went to hear the music and to see the learned Pig, who is quite a curiosity, then David Siss Ada and myself all went to drive to the spouting and Geyser spring which is a beautiful spot, we then drove through the town which is beautiful, to our surprise when we got home Dr Thoms sat at our front door, he has travelled after us for month, he is in love with Siss.  he is going to stay here awhile.  after ten we all went walking I had a letter from Dr Hulce at Cape Cod.  I am going back to Chicago in a few days with Mr Angell.  I had a letter from Mr Badger, he says the babies are not well, Tuesday Aug 3rd 1875 I rose this morning at seven, found it raining.  it has been all night, after breakfast all of us went to the spring and drank Congress water.  then returned home and did some mending, had a talk with Dr Simms about my darling Eva, as well as I could describe her case, he says she evidently died of Embolus, or heart trouble from the terrible schock to her tender system,  we are unnerved.  still, I find it quite hard to control my feelings.    after tea all went again to the spring, but I staid and talked with Dr Thoms about the trouble nearest my heart and his idea of the case is that there was not the right contraction   X  and that she had Albumen in her blood.  Oh if I could feel that all was right.  Mr Faulds went to New York tonight Wednesday Aug 4th 1875   It rained all night and also this morning, but we all went to drink Congress, and Columbia water  I wrote to Mrs Chas Johnson,  we received letters from Belle and from Mr Badger, they all well, and the little Angells quite well.  Mr Harvey is to arrive at Cape Cod to day.  we made Mr Angell leave his house and come and stay here last night, as David was in New York.  it has rained a great deal to day.
