was taken ill yesterday, but hopes it may not be a serious illness me called Dr Syler who is a good physician but sometimes a little inclined to be [[unclear]] , then is afraid of going when not really needed me send to the office this morning as he wished to know how she was and he sent more medicine. she is a little more feverish to night but that is to be expected.  is sitting up now I [[unclear]] to be with sick people a great deal but any deafness  [[unclear]] but fortunately we have those in the family who can take my place aunt is nearly eighty so I always feel anxious when she is not well she is of a resolute nature and repels disease to some extent.

What do you think of the Indian uprising? is it not sad? my thought instantly revert to Carlisle fearing it will create a predjudice which will affect the school and then to think of men who had escaped with their lives from Santiago should come home to die in this may but I trust the majority of the Indian race will still be true and loyal to the government.
