Got late papers but no later news. 1st Miss Reg leave today for Goodrich Landing. Wrote a letter to Sister [[Libie?]]. answer to one rec'd on Wed. All quiet. No Rebels heard from | ||

August, Saturday, 1. Another warm morning. all quiet in and about our camp. Learn that a small force of rebels came within some 6 or 8 miles of us and burned main building out there. One boat landed at night & that is all for today Made details for Battery & for the scouting. | |||
