  Your letter came to hand in due season and I take this early (?) opportunity to answer. I was very glad indeed to hear of Cynthia's gaining so rapidly and hope Eddie is well by this time and also that those [[underline:  Trenton Falls cedar trees]] are flourishing. When I arrived home from Utica I found they had been setting out a cedar hedge in our yard thinking of course that a hedge of evergreens would be quite an ornament; but the [[underline: nevergreens]] of to-day are far from being the [[underline: evergreens]] we hoped
