In "Greenwood" we saw the monument erected to Lee, [?] Jackson, Polk and A S Johnson by the Ladies of [this State?]. It has a [?] of each of these officers [-and- crossed out-] on the ends & on the top is a [statue] of a soldier with arms, coat & cape &resting on his gun. Bought Japan plums & dates. The first I had ever seen of the former, I do not like them much. When I returned home, I found [-had- crossed out] that [?] had found my red roses which has so mysteriously gone from my room.
