Saw Cols of the 261t and 9t Gnd Rgts.

Sunday, 26.  Cloudy warm & pleasant.  Moved up to Choctaw Bend & overtook the steamers midriver & spent the day collecting Africans of which we have a goodly number already. Good many amusing scenes.  Rebels in the vicinity & at night crossed the river for protection
 
Monday, 27. Went back to the other side & spent the forenoon mainly taking on the plunder of the negroes & then moved down the river & at American Bend found the other steamers.  Saw Rebs at Greenville & other places.  In the vicinity of Lake Washington found a large number of negroes. At night anchored in the stream
