Did not go to church but spent the greater part of the day in copying the account of Patterson Scofield from the books of Patterson Sherman - Find a balance in my favor of about $800.00 for which I am very thanksful - Took a good bath + changed my clothes

Have just returned & am sitting in the office at one end of the long table while Sherman is writing a letter & Wm is working   A negro preacher from Oskalousa [[Oskaloosa]] took up a collection today for a church for the colored people there
