Up by time with [[unclear]] morning of the 1st & proceeded on our wandering way & at 10. A.M. arrived at Capt. [[unclear 'Veile's?"'' Camp at the Springs - Spent the day very pleasantly with the Captain & Lieut Safford - Explored the Surrounding Country to some Extent - Gave Gave the Captain such instructions as I deemed necessary - & in the Eventing played Whist. The Capt. & Myself playing against Lieut. Safford & the Doctor. The same [[unclear]] inflicting upon our opponents a Waterloo - defeat.
