Gibson until the next morning to await the arrival of an Odometer, which had been sent by express from St. Louis, to enable us to measure the distance on our march.
On the morning of the 2" we broke camp at daylight and marched thirty two miles, encamping at 2 P.M on the Second crossing of Cane Creek. Here we were joined by the General at 5 o'clock P.M. The day was very warm and after the fatiguing march across the praireie through the broiling
