1866.
Commenced making arrangements to leave. Made up my papers taking an oath before the Major Elam & was paid with the Regiment. 1180 miles were all that was allowed. Have not sold my horse & fear shall be detained. Went to a boarding house in the city .Brother. Dr Horton, Sumner &c [[et cetera]] go down the river in the Genl Quitmore.

Have not sold my horse & fear shall be detained. Went to a boarding house in the city. - Brother. Dr Horton, Sumner &c go down the river in the Genl Quitman.
