Hillsdale, June 25th 1877 My Dear Aunt Jennie:-

Nothing but the hurry and complete occupation of Commencement week could have kept me from writing and acknowledging those beautiful forgetmenots the day I received them. They came Wednesday morning, just the right time, and I put them down cellar in water immediately and they revived and became as sweet and fresh as could be desired. I showed them to the lady at the greenhouse and she said they were entirely different from any she ever saw. They were admired by all who saw them and I am most obliged

cross-written across top: our weeks seem to be nowadays. Mary is real good help. She does our washing and ironing now. You don't know how much I want to see you all or even any of you. Sometimes it seems as though I must. I know so little and have so many perplexities, and nobody to go to. Please write when you can Auntie Dear. Ever Lovingly, Hattie.
