I don't know what will happen next to retard the work. Week before last I spent in a hospital–a little high blood pressure and low blood count–if you know what that means. I came home with less dizziness, but with a bruised–or strained–right wrist as this writing shouts, and trying to shake hands with old friends at common doings hasn't improved it. I don't know how long it will take to overcome that trouble, but I'll not be good for what I want to do, probably, for some time. However, I expect to see my '95 friend this week. That class celebrated its 50th Saturday. Miss Cather could not come.

I'm glad you like the sample pages I sent. Haven't looked at anything since I returned from the hospital, but I can go ahead with it even if I can't do

May 21, 1945 Dear Mr. Hitz: Just a note this dark wintry May morning after a prefect May-June day yesterday; very few such days have we had! I don't know what will happen next to retard the work. Week before last I spent in a hospital–a little high blood pressure and low blood count–if you know what that means. I came home with less dizziness, but with a sprained–or strained–right wrist as this writing shows, and trying to shake hands with old friends at Commencement doings hasn't improved it. I don't know how long it will take to overcome that trouble, but I'll not be good for underlined what I want to do, probably, for some time. However, I expect to see my '95 friend this week. That class celebrated its 50th Saturday. Miss Cather could not come. I'm glad you like the sample pages I sent. Haven't looked at anything since I returned from the hospital, but I can go ahead with it even if I can't do
