The following extract of a communication from the Commdg. Officer Fort Sill, I. T., dated may 2. 1874, is furnished for your information and guidance. + + + + + + + + + "Mr. Jones, Post-Interpreter, reports from what he considers a reliable source, that Lone Wolf with forty (40) young Kiowas has started for Texas, and will probably go to the Wesfork of the Nueces. It is believed by the Kiowas, that the Indians who escaped from Hudson's fight secreted the bodies of Lone Wolf's son and his nephew in the branches of a tree near where the fight took place." + + + + + + +

The Lieutenant General Commdg. the Division of the Missouri is under the impression that Mexican National Troops and other parties of armed Mexicans have, at different times during the last fifteen or twenty years, crossed the Rio Grande (and even operated with our troops - drawing rations from us). The Department Commander desires that you collect all the information you can, with reference to these movements or crossings and forward the same to these Headquarters as soon as practicable. If you know of any citizens residing near your Post, who are cognizant of any facts bearing on this subject, please obtain their statements in the form of an affidavit and forward with your report.
