before it found a place whereby to climb. Shot at by
Michael but missed. Geese, Sand Hill Cranes and another
wolf. We paddled the Little Sioux River. Saw 3 more Deer
and another Prairie Wolf. Swans Pelicans are of a great
number of Scoter. [[unclear?]] [[Soldier?]] River at 2 o'clock.
we were caught by a snag that scraped the roof of our
Boat and torn us a little. we have now 82 miles and
encamped at the mouth of the cut off of the old Bluffs.
Killed only 1 Mallard.- Bragg, Harris, Dog, hid all the
meat the had been cooked for our supper.
4th Wednesday.
Cloudy and coldish. left early. mislaid my pocket knife
my knee very sore yet. Stopped by the wind at 10 at
[[Cabane'?]] Bluffs about 20 Miles above Fort [[Coughan?]]
all [[excepted?]] to hunt by the county was too [[unclear?]].
Saw [[Hasle?]] [[bu?f]] and black walnuts, Saw the first
wind [[unclear?]] until night. no thing done.
