FRY Colonel James B. Fry, Asst. Adjutant General, Hdqrs. Mil. Div. of the Mo. Chicago, Ills.
Colonel,
I enclose you herewith copies of Instructions, given Colonel Grierson, Commanding Fort Sill, I. T., to whom I have entrusted the duty of executing the President's Order for the removal of Settlers from the Indian Territory. I should be glad to know if the Lieut. General considers these as sufficiently covering the ground, so far as we can now see. Of course other questions may and probably will arise in the progress of this matter, requiring further instructions. I should be glad for any and all information, connected with this subject and for any suggestions of the Lieut. General, who is more familiar than I am with the condition of affairs in that Territory. If matters become complicated there, perhaps I had better go myself, at present I doubt, if it is necessary. I am Colonel, Very respectfully Your obdt. servant (Sgd.) C. C. Augur 2 Enclosures Brigadier General 1020. D. T.'72.
