My Tom and Calency suekseaded in keeping the Indians off of Hester untill they got back in to Red River bottom there the Indians quit them, and they came over to the ranch. As soon as I could make the nesesary preperations, I started in company with 5 others to took after Mr Bersell found him and carried him to the bridge that night and had him berried this next day. I braught all our mules from the train over to the ranch that night as none of the hands was willing to proceed further without a gard. After the Indians left, the place wheare they had killed Bersell they got on to an elevated point opposid my place and stoped and took a survey of the country, they then left, there and went in to the timber at the mouth of Bluff Creek wheare Capt Beck camped his command when he came over to our place.
