you.  He is a first rate Judge, and I am fully satisfied that culprits stand a slim show to escape the law when tried before him.    I enclose a letter from Capt. Churchill the Commissioner in answer to yours enclosing the complaints against Deputy Marshal Carson.
    I also enclose a copy of a letter from Durfee to his Clerk Carroll on that Spear business.  I accidentally saw this letter and took a copy of it to show you the animus of Mr. Durfee.  I am subpoaned in this case before the next term of the Court in November next.  I think the case against them is pretty strong.
