December 19, 1968 Dear Jack,
I realize that your opus requires more than just a Christmas letter, but somehow at this time of year I am virtually chained to pen and paper and underlined: have to get my commitments written up. Yes, Aunt Harriet wrote me that you had been released with bitterness from New Standard. Gosh, I should have thought they could do better by you than that - the skinflints. I hope that Moberly more than repays you for that parting and that you are happy there.
