Dear Edith- At long last I take my pen in hand - Haven't been able to write letters at all - Never did much writing but old age seems to have stopped me completely - It is snowing - the first real snow storm of the winter - The weather has been beautiful clear, cold and sunny - I find living here very pleasant - There are lots of congenial people Then it is such a lovely spot - Aunt D is as busy and bossy as ever - She seldom sits down - Today is an exception and we are in front of the fire listening to the opera on the radio -

  Poor Polly is not at all well now and won't go out at all except for a short drive - She has had me for dinner a couple of times but I think it is very tiring for her - Margaret had a breast removed before Xmas - Her memory is very sketchy but she is cheerful about it all and says quite often "there is nothing that I can recommend about old age - Geneva Sawyer really took care of her and then she died suddenly in the fall - So she is quite lost as all the people who had work for her for years are dead - Phyllis and Jim ?Ames? are the only ones left and they are attentive but of course not around much - Saw Jim and his new wife last fall they came up for Geneva's funeral - ?J.....? is very charming - his wife is gay and jolly so he is too - On Tuesdays Margaret has lunch with us and then we go to Jeannie's and play "Chele" a form of Canasta - On Sunday noon we have dinner with
