2/10/59 - Dear May, So glad you want the dear little cedar tree. It is waiting out in our woods for me to come & get it. I'm going to see if we can't arrange to ship it "B&B" (ball of earth & burlap wrapping) via Bertie. She has been terribly (but not dan- gerously) sick - flat on her back - for 11 days - is a bit better today but very weak. A complete digestive breakdown due to months of over- work (that took 20 lbs off of her!) plus a minor accident as to diet. We are marooned 10 miles out of town. No faith in doctors. Fasting homeopathy & hope. (I don't know how to drive) As soon as she can drive those 450 miles she'll get away for E. Palatka. I'll have to stay to plant - w/ some help from a 72 yr old neighbor) 50 Chinese [note on side:] worst illness of her 74 years on earth
