4/ Hope to goodness Maxine doesn't keep hunting jobs and neglecting her cooking and housework. My heartfelt wish is that she succeed in making a home for her father. I have Mildred's' correct address that you sent - 7906 W. Belmont, or rather, it was in her letter to you. I don't recall the description of the stove in the Egg and if mine acts up where it is stopped up with too rich pinewood. Have a little fire now. the first for several days. The weather has been ideal. Thanks for Norine's letter, and for the clippings-the poor geezer shivering while his tidy wife makes the bed! And Orr certainly is one of the best cartoonists to interpret world events I've ever seen. It's damnable to think we tax-payers have to foot John Bull's bills and pay for his mistakes. For they never pay us back. Have a nice little desk calendar that came this a.m. from Mrs. Dyar of Metamora. You recollect Mr. and Mrs. Dyar spent 2 or 3 days with me nearly 2 years ago. Took me to Bok Sanct, and color photos very fine people. I stopped corresponding with their daughter Doris, fine women, but impossible writing I'll get a photo of her baby for Christmas.
