Dear Grandma
The letter that I thought I wrote you I found at school unmailed. Dad and I went to the Daily News skating meet and had a fine time. We saw all the amateuer champions of the world and allso saw The worlds proffessional champion. My studies are coming along fairly well at the present and I hope to keep it so. The fruit you sent arrived here Saturday and we are enjoying it very much We are having a very cold spell here. The temperature has been at an average of about 15o or 20o for about a week and a half.
[Typed] Monday.
Malcolm wrote the above last evening when he was rather sleepy. See he forgot to sign his name. I think his handwriting has more character to it than formerly, and believe the letters are shaped better. His spelling is not as good as it was, but perhaps part of it was due to the adverse conditions under which the letter was written. His father had just learned that Weazel had stolen and devoured the pot roast left over from dinner, and as he was planning to take it for his lunch this morning he was quite angry and kept up a constant flow of remarks on that and other subjects which might well make letter writing difficult.
The fruit is very fine and thank you so much for sending it. Am crediting your account $1.85, and hope I can sell some for you to the bank people.
Loads of love, Tafern
