11. Got to the source of the Sabinas, where thousands of springs are seen rushing out of the calcerous Mountains, forming rapid streams, but now & then a [[hunt?]] seen. The steep & rocky banks of the streams have a shelving appearance as if formed by the [[returing?]] of waters; this same characteristic is perceived on the face of the ranges of hills ; the ground also is [[unclear]] with isolated masses of the calcerous rock, & of all dimensions. We are now on Indian ground & thus have to keep a sharp look out; our party is rather too small; fifteen or twenty is a good number. Game & wild turkeys in abundance. |
