     This comprehensive precept respects then the regulation of our thoughts, our words & actions in all our intercourse & connections with men. It is a law given by the omnificent searcher of hearts who demands rectitude & goodness of thought, as well as propriety of conversation & behaviour.  That this law is thus spiritual & extensive is evident from the nature of things & from the Scriptures.  1 John 3.15.  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer that is angry with his brother without cause is in [[?]] &c.  For the malignant passions of hatred, anger, envy & revenge, unrestrained lead on to the perpetuation of this crime. This precept therefore respects the due & regular government of our passions & appetites as well as words & conduct.  If then this precept restrains the sinful all wrathful & angry expressions or actions, - all contentions, striking, wound.g, duelling & the like.
