Letterhead Mount Holyoke College South Hadley, Massachusetts Nov. 12, 1839 Office of the President
Dear Edith:
I put The Satyr's Children aside to read, after the tumult of our Trustees Meetings and Founders Days should have died away. It is like a breath of cool air. I have been entertaining governors and stuffy college presidents your perfect fable of the return of Pan and Diana is the restorative needed for my spirits. It is a "lovely" thing. Thank you for it beyond words.
