first thing is to sit down to write you a letter; you can judge somewhat what my reverie was about. But it makes me feel bad not to have Dele love to sleep with you or I, as well as she does with Father. The big Indian Expedition which I mentioned last week has been ordered to return; Gen. Connor telegraphing that all the trouble was over. So I shall have plenty of troops to accompany me. On Saturday, I leave Denver for Idahoe and Empire - to go off on a little excursion into the mountains where few men have travelled. Wm H Russell and Gen Peirce are to be of the party. Without returning to Denver I shall take Curtis, my Interpreter and go over to the Park. Perhaps I shall not be able to write to you quite so frequently there for a time. But you will know that I love you.
