1794 WD 11 mo. 13 5 Rose about two hours before day and rode towards the head of the lake, in hope of reaching bath in the evening, but the Road being bad, were obliged to travel slow & passing a dangerous Crossway my Beast got one foot between the Logs, fast for sometime, & altho I was leading her I fell; but was mercifully preserved from being much hurt, and by a sudden jerk my Mare got loose, but wrenched her shoe partly off -- After riding about 12 miles breakfasted at Medcaff's & had the shoe refitted from thence rode 6 mils to Beavers & lodged.

      14.  6 Road to Bath about 22 miles & a rough road, & put up at William Dunns, paid a visit to Cap. Williams who kindly invited us to stay & lodge, which kind offer we accepted. 
     15.  7. Rose befor day and rode about 6 miles to Corbitts & breakfasted, from thence 13 miles to the painted Post, struck fire, dressed some Victuals & dined in the Woods, fed our horses and then rode 13 miles to Col: Lindley's widows, she gave us a kind invitation to stay all Night which we accepted.
     16. 1   Proceeded, and find bad travelling, our horse ball? in the Snow, so that its difficult to go 3 miles an hour, baled at Peter Roberts's about 10 miles on, now in Pennsylvania, and takeing in a fresh supply of feed for our horses, we rode 6 miles further to Wm. Carters & lodged.
     17. 2   Left Carters between 3 & 4 in the morning, the roads very bad to travel, that with difficulty we reached Peter's Cabbin about 13 miles near 8 O'Clock, where we fed our horses struck fire & made a tolerable breakfast, from thence about 10 miles to a place called the Block House, and the day being far spent & no other stage within reach, we were under the Necessity of staying all Night at this place of dismal entertainment for man & beast, we slept on the floor 4 in a bed, our horses
